Your Rights as a Federal Employee: Still Here, Still Worth Fighting For
Feb 09, 2025If you’ve been watching the news, you might be feeling uneasy about the future of your federal career. You’re hearing rumors of agency shakeups, whispers about EEO protections disappearing, and wondering—are my rights still real?
Let me assure you: they are.
Every day, we stand with federal employees, defending careers, fighting for workplace justice, and holding agencies accountable. And from where we sit, things are continuing as usual.
Federal Employees Are Still Winning Their Cases
Last week alone, we secured a federal employee’s reinstatement after a Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB) case. We pushed past an agency’s attempt to dismiss an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) case. We prepared for an upcoming EEOC hearing. And a federal judge recommended another one of our cases move forward to trial.
The system isn’t perfect. It never has been. But it’s still functioning, and your rights are still very real, very enforceable, and absolutely worth fighting for.
What You Can Do Right Now
If you’re worried about job security, discrimination, retaliation, or agency discipline, here’s what you need to remember:
- Your rights are protected. You still have the right to challenge unfair treatment, discrimination, and adverse actions.
- You are not alone. While it might feel like everything is unraveling, the core federal employee protections remain intact.
- Stay informed. Knowledge is your best defense. Understanding your rights and knowing when to take action can mean the difference between career security and career risk.
